Hyundai has been actively taking part in and leaving no stone unturned to dominate the automotive world. These guys were quite well known as the decent suppliers, though we can’t reckon them very good. But things changed suddenly when they introduced their coupe and Genesis sedan, and now they are known as one of the most influential players of the auto industry.
It was in 1991 when the Elantra was first introduced in the US, and at that time it wasn’t a vehicle with top shelf quality. But eighteen years are enough to utterly change the things. Now Hyundai is advertising the Elantra as a compact sedan with class-above options that make it feel quite expensive. It has been powered by the typical four-cylinder engine, but there are many other top features like Bluetooth, Electronic Stability Control as well as traction control.
This four door sedan is available in many different trim levels and has somewhat endless array of nice options.
The freshest rivals of the Elantra are the Honda Civic, Mazda3 and the Kia Forte, but there are also some other foes like Nissan Sentra, Toyota Corolla, Ford Focus and Chevrolet Cobalt.
There are two major breakthroughs in the Hyundai Elantra which are in quality and value segments. It has beem equipped with standard features, but it seems to show great care in the components of quality as well as workmanship that caused thousands more in its costing.
ABD, ESC, telescoping steering column, XM Satellite Radio, fog lights and cruise control are some things that you will find just scanning the window sticker. And isn’t it surprising that you would get all just under $20,000.
When it comes to its appearance, the Elantra seems to have a Coke Bottle shape but the things which make it feel really impressive are its curves and lines that give it a sophisticated touch. There are smooth surface bumpers at the front and the grille top edge has been nicely adorn with a single chrome accent.
In its inside you can easily notice some first rate materials by just entering in it. There are leather wrapped steering wheels that has been boosted with some redundant buttons in which cruise and radio controls have also been included. There is a storage tray at its very bottom which features USB interfaces and iPod. The seats are quite comfortable for long drives.
To make it run smoothly, the Elantra has been powered with Hyundai’s popular 2.0 liter engine with changing valve timing and produces 138hp and 136lb-ft of torque. There is standard four –speed automatic transmission in many models.
When it comes to performance, it is smooth and supple. You will find the ride full of fun and it makes you throw it into different turns, but not as fast as Mazda3 or Honda Civic.
